PRESS RELEASE (editors art / photography / agenda) BIOGRAPHY
Online photo exhibition ‘Human Condition’ on www.conditionhumaine.nl
March 1 2009 is the official opening of the online photo exhibition ‘Human Condition’ made by Ronald Puma. It is an exhibition of black and white photographs which Ronald Puma made from 1981 to 2000 in the Netherlands and several European countries. Some of the photos were exhibited under the title ‘Dubliners’ (1992-1995) and ‘Unknown Dutchman’. ‘Unknown Dutchman ‘ is a series of street portraits made with the multicultural society as the subject. It was exhibited in 1995 and 1996 and published in the magazine FOTO in 1997. Some other pictures of this online exhibition were published in newspapers, weeklies and magazines.
Ronald Puma: "The theme of this exhibition is the ‘Human Condition’, a concept from the philosophy. It’s about man’s fate and coincidence. Religions, philosophers and artists have occupied themselves for ages with the question of the human existence and they still do. In the exhibition are some quotes."
"Although I work in digital color photography nowadays, I think black and white is still beautiful. In 2005 I published a book with black and white photographs made in the Ooijpolder nearby my hometown Nijmegen with typical Dutch landscapes. The analog times and working in the Darkroom had its charm and a certain magic, I printed exhibition photos always on special paper. In any case, these picture's are 100% Photoshop free!", says Ronald Puma.
Ronald Puma (B. 1957, Arnhem, Netherlands) worked from 1990 as an independent photographer and daily and weekly newspapers and magazines have published his photos. He worked for companies, institutions and individuals and exhibited portraits and travel photographs.
